Night Owl
9am church.
This is a really big challenge for me, folks. 9am is not my thing. I'm so glad my kid is 5 now because she's old enough to make her own peanut butter sprinkle sandwiches for breakfast. (Yes, sprinkles. She also eats sliced apples with peanut butter and sprinkles. Today she tried banana with peanut butter and sprinkles. It's totally her idea.) Because I am NOT a morning person, y'all.
When I was in college, I wouldn't take classes that started before 10am because I wouldn't be there. Ever. I just can't get myself up and going that early. People like my husband who wake up at 5 or so just stare or roll their eyes when I call 9am early.
Seriously, the thought of having to wake up at, like, 7 to get a kid to school is a sizeable factor in my decision to homeschool. (That and I'm an almost credentialed teacher. Might as well put all those education courses to use and teach my own kid.)
When we were assigned to 9am church this year, I cringed. Amazingly, we have for the most part been on time - showering the night before and setting out clothes is a huge help for us.
But DST. Oy. That means that church starts at what feels like 8am.
Insert mental image of me as a zombie.
We made it, though. (Well, parking the car at 9:00, but let's not split hairs.)
I was the person with the blanket eating PopTarts in sacrament meeting. (Dude, PopTarts should sponsor my blog or something.) In my defense, I take a blanket almost everywhere - you never know when the a/c will be too cold (I have a narrow temperature tolerance and shivering is physically painful) or seats will be too hard. Plus I was eating PopTarts a couple weeks ago, too. See previous statements about 9am being too early and I have to take morning meds with food. (Which reminds me, I forgot my evening meds. Hold that thought...)
I came home from church and took a 3-hour nap.
It's now 11:40 and I really ought to go to sleep.
Ugh. Watch - 5yo will probably be up at 6:30.
Well, she knows where the peanut butter is.
